Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are becoming ever more ubiquitous in every aspect of our lives.  The rate of change of both the ubiquity and the power has been truly startling.  This journal club is meant to be a forum for discussion of these "tools".  I will give some of my thoughts on the appropriate (and inappropriate) uses in research (powerful tool that can be misused), education (potentially powerful tool that is often misused) and life (helpful tool). The cost in terms of resources also should not be forgotten.  Spoiler: I'm much more accepting of most uses then many people are but do not think they are either the solution to everything nor an existential evil. Finally what do you think about Artificial General Intelligence AGI, are we there, how will we know, are you/should we be afraid of it? What about "the AI singularity"?
